Health Gorilla's new Chief Medical Officer, Steven Lane, MD, MPH, has been invited to serve on a subcommittee of the California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS) Center for Data Insights and Innovation to develop and implement the state's first-ever healthcare Data Exchange Framework (DxF).
Dr. Lane, who has been involved in previous DxF workgroups and contributed to the framework this new group is tasked with implementing, will serve on the DxF Implementation Advisory Committee's Data Sharing Agreement Policies and Procedures Subcommittee.
CalHHS created the initial DxF advisory group in August 2021 and, in July 2022, released the Data Exchange Framework, Data Sharing Agreement, and initial set of Policies and Procedures that will govern the exchange of information among healthcare entities, government and social service agencies beginning in June 2024.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lane has led policy discussions and workgroups to shape landmark interoperability standards, networks, and frameworks nationwide. He is currently a member of the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC) for the Department of Health and Human Services, where he has served as the co-chairman for their Interoperability Standards Workgroup.
CalHHS’s DxF is comprised of a single, statewide data sharing agreement and associated policy documents that will accelerate and expand the exchange of health information electronically among healthcare entities, government agencies, and social service programs beginning in 2024.
Every Californian, and the health and human service providers and organizations that care for them, will have timely and secure access to usable electronic information that is needed to address their health and social needs and enable the effective and equitable delivery of services to improve their lives and wellbeing.
