Health Gorilla Gears Up for the ‘Better Together’ Civitas Conference, a Collaboration With DirectTrust Summit

Health Gorilla is proud to be a sponsor of Civitas Networks for Health’s 2022 Conference, a partnership with DirectTrust Summit to assemble healthcare data exchange leaders from around the country so we can collaborate and learn from one another.

The theme for the August 21-24 event in San Antonio, Texas, is “Better Together: Health Data Collaboratives and Information Exchange to Advance Health Equity.” With both in-person and virtual attendance options, the conference will include thought-provoking educational sessions that foster community connections through networking and sharing best practices.

“Interoperable health data and multi-stakeholder cross-sector approaches to health information exchange and improvement are absolutely critical in local and national efforts to reduce health disparities and achieve equitable outcomes,” Lisa Bari, Civitas Networks for Health CEO, said in a press release about the collaboration. “Civitas and DirectTrust members have built trusted, connected, and innovative solutions to serve their communities. This conference aims to highlight this innovation and brings recognition to the importance of partnerships.”

Civitas itself is a partnership, formed in 2021 when the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI) and Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) came together to create a national collaborative of member organizations. Today, Civitas Network for Health includes implementers at the local, regional, state, and national levels and represents more than 95 percent of the U.S. population.

Members of the Civitas Network for Health utilize health information exchange to improve the accessibility, quality, coordination, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare.

Health Gorilla joined Civitas in January of this year, as just one of the many steps we have taken to improve outcomes with organized, actionable health data. Health Gorilla has built one of the most comprehensive Health Information Networks in the United States that enables the entire healthcare ecosystem to share data seamlessly. We support a diverse set of use cases — including telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and care coordination — by supplying physicians with aggregated clinical data for each of their patients.

Since our founding, Health Gorilla has been dedicated to scaling interoperability for healthcare organizations in underserved markets. Over time, these collaborations have evolved into deep interoperability partnerships with global reach and true patient impact across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Health Gorilla now acts as the single-source provider of Health Information Exchange for the Puerto Rico Department of Health and operates as the interoperability solution connecting payers, labs, providers, patients, and public health officials. The Puerto Rico Health Information Exchange (PRHIE) now includes more than 900 care sites, 13,000 providers, and 3 million patients, enabling patient medical record data to be shared securely and electronically.

The Health Gorilla team is looking forward to meeting with fellow interoperability pioneers from across the United States and beyond to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. Our team will be in the exhibit hall, at Booth 43, during exhibit hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Tuesday and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
