MatrixCare Achieves Milestone: Over 5 Million Documents Exchanged with Health Gorilla’s Patient360!

For post-acute care providers, who often manage patients transitioning between different levels of care, secure and compliant interoperability is not just a convenience; it’s a necessity. It ensures that all parties involved in a patient’s care are on the same page, leading to more accurate diagnoses, more effective treatments, fewer readmissions, and better patient outcomes.

MatrixCare, a leading global technology provider in post-acute care, has long been a pioneer in the post-acute interoperability space. Recognizing the early need for data access and sharing solutions, they have continuously offered these services. However, with the emergence of new technologies, networks, and frameworks, MatrixCare saw opportunities to enhance their existing solutions further.

MatrixCare partnered with Health Gorilla earlier this year to leverage these new data exchange avenues, allowing them to seamlessly access, exchange, and integrate comprehensive clinical data via Health Gorilla’s product, Patient360. Since the partnership, MatrixCare has been quickly integrating Health Gorilla’s interoperability solutions, with more than 5 million documents exchanged across their care sites, which include PruittHealth, Saber Healthcare Group, Cassia Senior Community Services, and twenty-three other organizations representing 226 facilities and over 15,000 patients—a true testament to the success of the partnership.

MatrixCare’s commitment to interoperability and quick implementations enabled them to become the first post-acute EHR to tap into the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) and launch the initial EHR-to-EHR TEFCA transactions. Their mission is clear: to prioritize TEFCA, clinical data exchange, and interoperability for their users.

Patient360 provides compliant and secure bi-directional connectivity to national clinical data exchange networks, including Carequality, CommonWell, and eHealth Exchange. In 2023, Health Gorilla was designated as a Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN), one of a few leading organizations to receive this designation from the ONC, augmenting their Patient360 solution by enabling access to the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) ecosystem. By joining forces with Health Gorilla, MatrixCare facilities can now access more than 220 million patient records, 750 thousand clinicians, and more than 147 thousand care sites, closing the interoperability gap in the post-acute space that has long been underemphasized. By participating in Health Gorilla’s network, MatrixCare providers gain actionable insights into their patients’ medical histories, empowering them to make informed treatment decisions, enhance the coordination of care, and streamline administrative processes.

This level of adoption is no easy task. The MatrixCare and Health Gorilla teams have been working diligently to integrate as many facilities as possible. We look forward to the continued adoption of Patient360 and participation in these national networks and frameworks.
